Purpose of IPRsTrust.org

New policy and research questions relating to the selection, disclosure and licensing of patents reading on technology standards are gaining momentum. A lot of related academic papers and legal documents have already been issued over the last years; many papers are still to come. These resources encompass academic literature in Law and in Economics, but also Court decisions in different jurisdictions, various national regulations and guidelines, as well as IP policies of standard setting organizations. This huge amount of information is also an impediment to researchers who must grasp a large body of heterogeneous and scattered materials.

Purposively, we have developed this platform as a research tool to provide an easy and complete access to bibliographic references on “Patents and antitrust in standards”. The idea is to use it as a joint resource for researchers on this topic by posting and organizing all relevant bibliographic information. The website allows various ways of browsing its contents, including classifications by categories of documents and a specific search engine.

We expect this platform to spur research on “Patents and antitrust in standards” in Law and in Economics. Since it is meant to work as a simple research tool, its access is public and free of charge. It is also neutral and independent from any companies and institutions involved in standards.

We invite all concerned researchers to contribute to the growth of this platform, by sending us their own papers and bibliographic references.
